He rediscovers himself from different angles and analyzes the events that shaped him. The camera is his most important here
research tool.
Through photography and film, Van Gobbel creates projects in which his personal story plays the leading role and through which he learns more about his background. Whether a project is about his native Suriname, or about his definition of masculinity, Van Gobbel exposes himself layer by layer.
