The first exhibition in gallery Details: 'Let's speak in tongues we won't remember': a look at diasporic rebellion under hegemonic rule as a decolonizing ritual is curated by sociologist and curator Natascha Harkhoe @tasonaire.
Exploring the concept of identity, this exhibition reflects the diasporic Surinamese heritage of the artist Suzanne Harkhoe steeped in contemporary issues that generate anti-capitalist and anti-imperialist sentiments, resulting in cognitive dissonance.
Suzanne Harkhoe @suzalism is a Dutch Surinamese conceptual artist and technologist who is active in installation, painting, mixed media, technology-based art, AI, sculpture, and film. She was born, raised and based in Rotterdam.
Suzanne Harkhoe has recently had exhibitions at the Bellini Museum in Florence, Italy, the Ikigai Arts Center in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, the MoMa in New York, the M.A.D.S. Art Gallery in Milan, the Amsterdam Museum in Amsterdam, the Gallarty Gallery in Moscow, the West Art Collective in Manchester, the Museum of Social Justice in Los Angeles, the Feminist Art Museum, the Corrado Bortone Gallery in Paris. Upcoming exhibitions in Milan, Barcelona and New York, among others, are planned for 2022. For 2023, exhibitions in Madrid, Tokyo and Hong Kong are on the agenda.
Suzanne Harkhoe is internationally recognized and recently received the Voices of Tomorrow Art Award from the Contemporary Art Curator Magazine. She is also a contributing artist to Tricontinental: Institute for Social Research from the Perspective of the Global South.
